Tata AIG General : Tata AIG General Insurance is a joint venture formed by the American International Group, Inc. (AIG) and the Tata Group combining the financial services provided by these companies.
Tata group has 74 per cent of the stake in this venture and AIG holds the remaining 26 per cent. The company began with its operation in India on the 22nd of January, 2001 providing services and solutions to corporate and individuals which include services such as insurance for home, automobiles, travel, energy, personal accident, property and casualty, marine and so on.
The Company\'s offerings are accessible through agents, brokers, banks, through bank assurance tie ups and Tele Marketing, Digital Marketing, worksite as well.
The company has more than 40 branches in 35 cities across the nation. Tata AIG General Insurance was the first company to introduce a toll free helpline facility and a mobile claims service for individuals. The company has also been considered as the pioneer in claims registration and policy renewals through its SMS service.
The company is also looking at a combined group cover for SMEs and the opposite end of the industry which is considered as the ultra net worth sector known as the private banking or commonly referred to as wealth management.
The PCG- Private Client Group will be launched in April in 2010 covering high value properties, holiday resorts, villas, collections, work of art, yacht, airplanes and so on.
Tata AIG General Insurance has added some 14-150 add on products to the existing range of services out of which 70 per cent have been approved. 60 – 70 per cent belong to the property sector, 40 per cent deal with the engineering sector and a dozen on the motor insurance segment.
As and when policies will get renewed the company will start offering these products. With the new services included the company aims at growing at a rate of 14-15 per cent in the coming years.
